Practitioner Report - Goldfields Bioregion Key directions outlined in the document “Victoria’s Biodiversity – Directions in Management”(NRE 1997) emphasise the need to involve the community in the conservation of biodiversity. A pilot community-based biodiversity planning project was initiated in the Maldon and Wedderburn Zones of the Goldfields Bioregion. These zones were selected on the basis of social and biodiversity characteristics. The project aimed to evaluate the potential of community-based biodiversity planning to achieve positive social and biodiversity outcomes, and develop approaches that could be applied by practitioners in other areas. |  |
