Access to Groundwater

DSEs Groundwater Notes Series (external link) provide a range of information related to access to groundwater - including: how to become a groundwater user; drilling and constructing a water bore; testing the aquifer and pumping groundwater; testing groundwater quality; looking after water bore quality; preventing groundwater pollution; where to get groundwater advice etc.

The Groundwater section of DSEs Our Water Our Future website (external link) provides information on: accessing groundwater, groundwater beneficial uses and groundwater management. Information is provided on Victoria's Water Allocation Framework, the State Observation Bore Network and Groundwater Licensing.

The Water Act 1989 (external link) details various rights and responsibilities to water of the Crown, Water Authorities and individual water users.
