Valuation Property Classification Codes

In 2004, a sub-committee was formed to develop a draft set of Australian Valuation Property Classification Codes (AVPCC). The sub-committee involved the Valuers-General from Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.

The AVPCC is intended first and foremost as an aid to valuers providing rating authority and government asset valuations. To ensure the widespread acceptance and application of the AVPCC, each property code must be regarded as relevant and useful to valuers and property professionals.

The AVPCC will be a three-digit code based on a hierarchical of primary, secondary, tertiary representation of a property’s classification.

The codes have been implemented by Tasmania and will beimplemented by Victoria for the 2010 revaluation.

An updated list of codes approved by the National Meeting of Valuers-General in March 2007 will be available soon
