Butter Factories |

Korumburra Butter Factory in South Gippsland was one of the largest
in the State. This souvenir was produced to commemorate the opening of a
new building in 1909.

Byaduk Butter Factory
in the Western District of Victoria opened c. 1901. This photograph was
probably taken soon after opening.

Warrnambool Butter Factory in South West Victoria was Victoria's second
co-operative butter factory, opening in 1888. Decades later the factory
became famous for developing Ultra High Temperature milk.

Garvoc Butter Factory in South West Victoria opened around the turn
of the century. It later merged with the larger Warrnambool Factory and
"Coon" cheese was manufactured here in the 1940s. This building was demolished
in the 1960s.

Glenormiston Butter Factory in South West Victoria before 1910. The
bluestone building was a converted woolstore. The carts are queuing at the
lift which transferred milk cans straight from cart to factory. During the
1920s, Glenormiston Factory had sixteen cream separators and was reputed
to be the largest milk separating factory in the world.
