The Victorian Department of Agriculture building prior to 1918. The
Department of Agriculture mounted displays in this building before the construction
of the Government Pavilion in 1918.

The Government Pavilion, Royal
Melbourne Show, 1948. The inside of this pavilion was adorned with elevating
slogans designed to improve agricultural practice. A nationalistic atmosphere
was also created by flags and banners.

The
Government Dairy display, Royal Melbourne Show c. 1908. A working dairy
was first introduced to the show in the 1880s as part of the Government's
promotion of the dairy industry. The 1908 display focused on butter and
cheese making. In 1955, the dairy exhibit demonstrated milk pasteurization
and bottling.
